This was a truly hard book to put down. Some of the graphic violence made me stop reading briefly. Too much at one time had me looking over my shoulder and wondering why the house was so quiet. Best not read alone at night. Never mind the vampires and werewolves, by the way. Be on the look out for spiders and things that lurk in the shadows as well!

I love a good vampire story, one that scares me, that makes me afraid to turn off the lights ... The Minimart, The Ruger and the Girl, by Mark Worthen, gives us a new take on long-lasting relationships and compatibility. ... I really like Lysette and Nick. There is one more Nick and Lysette story in this group, The Carrion Bird, the Angel of Death, and Me, and I enjoyed that one also. I hope to see more of this twosome.

Thinner Than Mist

Thinner Than Mist has been published by Bones and Caskets Press, and has been released (March 2008). It contains eleven stories by "up and coming authors," (according to Ellen Datlow) J.P. Edwards, Curtis Hoffmeister, Cullen Bunn, and your obedient servant, myself.

Thinner than Mist is companion piece to Thicker Than Water, a volume with a vampire theme, Thinner features alternative ghost stories.
